Mosaics, one of the oldest and richest ornamental techiques used by mankind, appeared thousands of years ago. This technique is based on the union of fragments of several materials which range from stone , glass, china, marble, and more precious Italian “smalti“. Not only used as a functional element, ancient floor,the mosaic technique has spread especially as a typical decorative expression, used as decoration to walls, a real “painting on stones”which managed to resist through the centuries. No longer considered a simple covering technique and due to its flexible options of materials e.g.:wood, metals and iron, mosaics have offered a vaste range of expressive possibilities, satisfying the most creative and innovative demands.
